Purpose
Since its launch in September 1998, AgBioForum (http://www.agbioforum.org) has published specialised issues that have been at the center of the on-going debate of agrobiotechnology. AgBioForum has contributed to the debate by publishing original research on key topics as the issues unfold.
The online forum provides a place where issues can be openly debated with clarity being brought to debate by informed academics, experts, and opinion leaders in the field. In addition to informing the public, AgBioForum is fulfilling the vital role of disseminating current research and information to scientists and the general public.
Objectives
To fund AgBioForum to the extent that it can be made available free-of-charge and with open access to all readers around the globe.
Free access will be increasingly important as the editors continue to target readers in Asia (India and China), Latin America, and Africa.
Impact
The above countries stand to gain the most from agricultural biotechnology while at the same time providing potential markets for US producers. By providing a forum for communicating the global economic and social impacts of agrobiotechnology, key opinion leaders in academia, industry, and media will continue to be informed of the issues.
Global opinion leaders are making critical decisions regarding market access to biotechnology products at this time. Supporting AgBioForum is consistent with the overall mission of IMBA to enhance profitability of American agriculture and food products through biotechnology.
